If you are installing aftermarket speakers into a vehicle custom speaker adapters are needed to adapt the speaker to the vehicle's mounting pattern. While aftermarket adapters are available, they typically don't perfectly match the aftermarket speaker. In the past we would often times use a router and other fabrication methods to make adapters out of acrylic or ABS sheet plastic, but now with 3d printers becoming more readily available for the average consumer they are becoming a solid choice, given you know the process!
